Our Story

Where we began

B & K’s story starts with Brendan Nebauer, wife Kathie, and Megsy, the red cattle dog in Sydney in 1980, where Brendan set out delivering private landscaping projects equipped with only a mini moke, a 6×4 box trailer, and a set of hand tools.

It wasn’t long before Brendan’s wife Kathie, his mates Murray Grady, Mick O’Mally, Garry McCarthy, and Brendan’s school PE teacher ‘Beery’ formed the original B & K Revegetation & Landscaping crew. Together, we delivered B & K’s first ‘big’ project in 1986 at Randwick Council’s Arthur Byrne Reserve.

Business was thriving while the B & K team worked hard establishing a company based on family values with a strong emphasis on client relationships. Our focus on a positive organisational culture resulted in a productive working environment, an abundance of repeat work, and a reputation for excellence in landscaping and revegetation projects.

Brendan and Kathie’s sons, Ben and James, began  working in the business, eventually stepping into General Management roles. This development expanded B & K’s capacity and reach, enabling us to establish branches in Sydney and Port Macquarie, in addition to the head office on the Central Coast.

Where we are today

Today, the excellence continues as a family business with the same B & K values, however, on a much larger scale. Ben and James developed B & K into a corporate landscape construction company, specialising in: multi-disciplined landscaping; revegetation, and bush regeneration projects. The company has had great success delivering these services on some of NSW’s largest key infrastructure projects in the mining, transport, industrial, housing, and government sectors.

B & K is now among Australia’s leading landscaping contractors as a result of the following competitive and value adding company elements:

Experienced and qualified landscape construction professionals..
including Horticulturists, Environmental Scientists, Engineers, qualified Project Managers, and landscape construction tradesmen/women, who plan, manage and deliver outstanding B & K projects;

Self-owned plant..
serviced by B & K’s workshop allowing project optimisation by not having to rely on plant hire or third-party repair workshops;

Majority of project scope is performed in-house..
by skilled and permanent B & K staff;

B & K’s high staff retention rate..
allows B & K to invest in development of project delivery crew; and

B & K has a proven safety record..
with HSEQ Management Systems tailored to the landscaping industry, supervised by dedicated HSEQ staff, and certification to international standards.

Our Mission

To continue B & K’s long-held reputation for delivering exceptional landscaping, revegetation and bush regeneration projects, enhancing the local environment, biodiversity and community open spaces. B & K is committed to maintaining and fostering our original family values, including a safe working environment and an emphasis on client relationships, all priorities originally established in 1983 by Brendan and Kathie Nebauer.
